The Founders

New Life Center for Thoroughbreds and its founders have been working toward a vision that was catapulted forward with a special horse — Traveler. Traveler had an immediate need and was a prime example of an off the track Thoroughbred that through no fault of his own, ended up in a less than ideal situation. In the last 12 months, he has changed from a horse that was unsure of himself into an athletic, willing partner that has all the love in the world to give.

Huxley Greer is known professionally as a FEI three-day eventing and dressage rider. She is well known for her incredible talent as a horse trainer and has extensive experience with re-starting off the track Thoroughbreds and bringing them up through the levels as sport horses. She has more than 15 years experience in horse care and
10+ years in barn management.

​Her training philosophy is based on compassion, patience, and understanding. Huxley’s love for the Thoroughbred and her advocacy for them was the conversation starter with Heather that formed New Life Center for Thoroughbreds (New Life).

Heather Kourcklas has an accounting and strategic business background in non- profits and government contracting. She has more than 25 years' experience, 12 of which have focused on small business ownership. Heather’s business experience combined with passion and dedication to the retired Thoroughbred racehorse brings unique experience and passion to our organization. Her determination toward her goals made starting New Life Center for Thoroughbreds a reality.
